LookingForRainbows-01.png

Looking for Rainbows was an initiative by urban designer and researcher Jenny Elliott, aiming to share messages of hope and community during the Covid-19 lockdown by photographing the hand-drawn rainbows appearing at windows across the city, and the people that created them. Over the course of the 7 weeks from lockdown starting at the end of March 2020, Jenny cycled to neighbourhoods across Edinburgh to take the following 100 photos.

Jenny volunteered her time in a personal capacity to do this. The aim? To share some positive stories of community, solidarity, gratitude and hope during these unprecedented times, and to raise money for charity Social Bite. It was a privilege to meet so many wonderful people. I enjoyed exploring parks, back streets, cycle routes and part of the city more fully than I had before. Thanks to everyone who took part.

Want to find out more about the experience and project? Read the full story on the blog, view all 100 photos below or on Instagram, or purchase the book which includes all photos and the story of how the project came about (all proceeds to charity Social Bite).
