Jenny Elliott is an award-winning, multi-disciplinary Designer based in Edinburgh, Scotland
An Urban Designer and Chartered Landscape Architect by training, with particular expertise in public spaces, Jenny Elliott works at the interface of urban design, co-design, research, placemaking, impact evaluation, graphic design, illustration and photography.
Interested in transforming urban spaces through innovative design, research and collaboration and using visual communication to drive engagement and impact, much of her work involves integrating data-driven, observational and user experience insights about the city to drive positive change through the design, analysis or visualisation of streets and other public spaces. She has instigated, and led numerous creative placemaking projects - using film, photography, visual arts and participation to catalyse change and collaboration, or reimagine overlooked urban places. Previous clients include Living Streets, the V&A Dundee, City of Edinburgh Council, Edinburgh Living Lab, University of Edinburgh, and The Stove Network.
Jenny’s freelance urban design and user research work has won several awards, including a Landscape Institute Award 2020 for an interdisciplinary neighbourhood-scale project combining service design, data-driven and human-centred design approaches, and was Finalist for the UK-wide Partnership and Collaboration design award for her freelance work leading project Future of the High Street. Jenny regularly speaks at international conferences about urban design, placemaking and innovation for public spaces. Jenny is a Chartered Landscape Architect, Professional Member of the Association of Illustrators, has a Masters with Distinction in Landscape Architecture (winning the UK-wide LDA Award for Design Excellence 2011), 1st Class MA Hons in Human Geography (winning the Lind Award), and recently completed the 6 week IDEO training in Human Centred Systems Thinking (2023).
